The Nigerian Air Force has intensified air operations against terrorists, bandits, kidnappers and other criminal elements across the North West as part of efforts to strengthen ongoing joint security operations.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Monday, the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the increased air presence in Sokoto State was aimed at supporting ground forces and improving surveillance and rapid response.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Ejodame said the deployment would help counter threats posed by terrorists and bandits who exploit difficult terrain and concealment to evade security forces.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, said the NAF would continue to use air power to locate and disrupt criminal elements, deny them freedom of movement and create opportunities for surface forces to consolidate their gains.
Aneke stressed the importance of timely intelligence and effective coordination between the Air Force, Nigerian Army and other security agencies, while assuring that civilian safety would remain a priority.
He said the NAF would sustain its operations across the North West to support efforts to restore peace, protect communities and dismantle terrorist and criminal networks.
The Air Force also urged members of the public to provide timely and credible information to security authorities to support ongoing operations.
