The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has introduced a new technology driven system that allows candidates to verify and upload their O’Level results from home, removing the need to visit Computer Based Test, CBT, centres for the process.
The development marks a significant shift in JAMB’s admission services as the examination body moves more of its processes online and seeks to make result submission easier, faster and more convenient for candidates.
Under the new arrangement, JAMB will electronically verify candidates’ O’Level results directly with the examination bodies that issued them before the results are uploaded to the candidates’ profiles. The service is initially available for results issued by the West African Examinations Council, WAEC.
The Board said the initiative is designed to reduce unnecessary visits to CBT centres, particularly during periods when candidates face long queues, heavy patronage and network difficulties.
The new process also seeks to address some of the challenges associated with manual result uploads, including errors in entering subjects and grades, misplaced documents and the submission of fraudulent or unverified results.
Candidates are required to first obtain a Result Verification Code by providing their National Identification Number, selecting the number of sittings and relevant examination body, and supplying their email address and telephone number.
They are also required to provide details including their examination number, examination series and examination year before completing the verification process.
After successful verification, candidates will receive a Verification Code. They are then required to send the word “VERIFY” followed by the code to 55019 or 66019, after which they will receive notification of the verification and submission process.
Candidates with two O’Level sittings will subsequently log into their JAMB e Facility profiles and select the “2026 UTME O’Level Upload” option.
After entering the Verification Code, the candidate’s verified results will appear on the platform. Candidates are expected to select between five and nine subjects from the displayed results, ensuring that no subject is selected more than once.
Once the appropriate subjects have been selected, candidates can click on “Apply the O’Level Results” to complete the process. A notification will be issued after a successful submission.
The new arrangement is expected to particularly benefit candidates who previously had to travel to CBT centres simply to upload their results. It could also reduce congestion at centres and make it easier for candidates to complete important admission requirements without unnecessary physical visits.
JAMB has continued to expand the use of technology in its admission processes. Its Central Admissions Processing System already requires candidates with awaiting O’Level results to upload them to the JAMB portal before they can be considered for admission.
The introduction of home based O’Level verification and upload therefore represents another step in the Board’s wider digital transformation programme.
For candidates, the immediate benefit is greater convenience, while the electronic verification process could also strengthen the reliability of results used in admission decisions.
JAMB is expected to extend the system to results from other recognised examination bodies as the digital verification arrangement develops, potentially allowing more candidates to complete the process remotely.
The development comes as the 2026/2027 admission process continues, with JAMB’s admissions platform currently recording more than two million qualified UTME and Direct Entry candidates.
