Former Imo State Governor and Senator representing Imo West, Rochas Okorocha, has dragged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, the All Progressives Congress, APC, and Governor Hope Uzodimma before the Federal High Court over the 2027 Imo West senatorial ticket.

Okorocha is challenging INEC’s publication of Uzodimma’s name as the APC candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District election.

In the suit, Okorocha is asking the court to determine whether INEC was bound by reports submitted by its officials who monitored the APC senatorial primary held on May 18, 2026. He maintains that he won the primary and that Uzodimma’s name should not have been published as the party’s candidate.

The former governor is also seeking several declarations and orders from the court, including an order that would recognise him as the APC candidate for the 2027 Imo West senatorial election if the court rules in his favour.

The legal battle adds another layer to the political contest within the Imo APC as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections.
