The University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) has called for stronger collaboration with members of the Borno Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

The university said closer engagement with journalists would help strengthen communication, improve public understanding of its activities and promote greater visibility for its contributions to education and development in Borno State.

The call was made as the institution sought to deepen its relationship with the media and create more opportunities for journalists to access accurate information about its programmes, achievements and ongoing initiatives.

UNIMAID also recognised the important role played by journalists in informing the public and providing balanced coverage of developments within the university and the wider society.

The proposed partnership is expected to encourage regular interaction between the university and members of the Correspondents’ Chapel, while promoting responsible and accurate reportage.

The development comes as UNIMAID continues to position itself as a major centre of learning and research in the Northeast.
