British technology and online grocery group Ocado on Thursday confirmed Danish online supermarket nemlig as its latest European partner, with the companies set to build a robotic warehouse near Copenhagen.
The new Customer Fulfilment Centre is expected to become operational in 2028, when nemlig plans to move its existing order volumes into the facility while continuing to operate its online store and handle last mile deliveries.
Nemlig, Denmark’s largest dedicated online supermarket, recorded sales of about 3.3 billion Danish crowns ($516 million) in 2025/26.
Ocado’s shares rose more than 12% when the partnership was first announced in July, providing a boost to its struggling technology solutions business. The stock gained another 2% on Thursday but remains down about 32% over the past year.
The deal comes as Ocado seeks to rebuild confidence in its robotics business after major North American partners Kroger and Sobeys moved to close robotic warehouses operated with the company, citing weaker than expected demand.
