The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Southwest Zone D, has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene in the continued withholding of statutory allocations meant for the 30 local government areas of Osun State.

NANS said more than N200 billion in local government allocations had reportedly accumulated by the middle of 2026. The students’ body urged the Federal Government to resolve the dispute and release the funds, stressing that local governments need adequate resources to provide essential services and promote grassroots development.

The association also called for a transparent resolution of the controversy surrounding the funds, saying prolonged withholding could negatively affect residents, workers and development at the grassroots.
