The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has recovered N4.4 billion and secured the conviction of two individuals for offences linked to illegal naira trading.

The development forms part of the commission’s ongoing crackdown on financial crimes and activities involving the unlawful trading and abuse of Nigeria’s currency.

The convicted individuals were prosecuted over offences relating to illegal naira transactions, with the courts subsequently finding them guilty.

The EFCC said its enforcement efforts are aimed at protecting the integrity of the naira and curbing financial activities that undermine the country’s economy.

The commission has continued to intensify investigations and prosecutions of individuals suspected of engaging in currency-related offences across the country.
