Arsenal could reportedly make a move for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen this summer, with an offer exceeding £60 million potentially enough to convince Galatasaray to consider selling their star forward.

Transfer speculation surrounding Osimhen has intensified, with reports from Football Insider claiming that Arsenal are prepared to explore a deal for the 27-year-old as Mikel Arteta continues efforts to strengthen his squad.

The Gunners have maintained an interest in Osimhen for some time and could now turn that interest into a formal offer before the transfer window closes.

Recent reports suggested Arsenal discussed the striker’s availability while negotiating with Galatasaray over a possible move for Gabriel Martinelli to the Turkish club.

However, any potential deal for Osimhen is understood to be separate from Martinelli’s situation.

“Any deal to take him to the Emirates Stadium would likely be done separately to Martinelli heading the other way,” Football Insider reported.

The outlet also claimed on its latest Transfer Insider podcast that Arsenal would need to submit an offer of more than £60 million to have a realistic chance of persuading Galatasaray to part ways with the Nigerian forward.

Osimhen signed a four-year contract with Galatasaray last summer after his initial loan spell and enjoyed an impressive first permanent season, registering 28 goal contributions in 33 appearances.

His arrival at Arsenal could also have a significant impact on the club’s wage structure, with the striker reportedly earning more than £300,000 per week at Galatasaray.

That figure would potentially make Osimhen Arsenal’s highest-paid player should the proposed move materialise.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has already indicated that the Premier League champions remain active in the transfer market as they seek to improve their squad before the deadline.

“There is more that we want to do because every time we have an opportunity to improve the squad and bring more quality and depth to the squad, we need to do that,” Arteta said earlier this week.

“We are actively trying to do so. The thing in the market is that it doesn’t just depend on you. We are very clear on that.”

Osimhen, meanwhile, has remained coy about his future amid the growing speculation.

The Nigerian striker scored twice in Galatasaray’s Super Lig opener on Friday before addressing questions about his transfer situation.

“There are always rumours in transfer seasons,” Osimhen told reporters in Turkey.

“I will take care of my business. I am focused on my job, then we will see and think further.”

With the transfer window approaching its deadline, Arsenal’s reported interest could develop into one of the biggest transfer stories involving a Nigerian player this summer.
