Family Continues Six-Month Search for Seven-Year-Old Girl Missing in Morocco

The family of seven-year-old Inaayah Makda, from Blackburn, England, is continuing its desperate search for the young girl six months after she disappeared while on holiday in Morocco.

Inaayah went missing in January after a large wave swept her into the sea while she was with her parents on rocks at a beach in Casablanca. Her parents were also knocked into the water but managed to reach the shore, while they lost sight of their daughter.

Despite extensive search efforts, including underwater operations and searches along the coastline, Inaayah has not been found. Moroccan authorities ended their official search at the end of February, after severe weather and difficult sea conditions hampered efforts.

The family has since continued efforts independently. In May, Inaayah’s father, Zubair Makda, said the family had acquired sonar equipment and engaged specialist assistance, including a professional diver and an oceanographer, while seeking further support to expand the search.

Sky News, in a report published Sunday, revisited the family’s heartbreaking ordeal as they continue to live with uncertainty over their daughter’s whereabouts.

The case has drawn support from the Blackburn community and British officials, with the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office previously confirming that it was supporting the family and maintaining contact with Moroccan authorities.

For Inaayah’s family, the search remains a deeply painful journey as they continue hoping for answers about what happened to their daughter.
