Alimosho General Hospital, Igando, on Wednesday organised a medical outreach for officers and personnel of the Nigeria Police Force Area M Command, Idimu, Lagos, to promote their health and wellbeing.
The programme, organised by the Friends of Alimosho General Hospital Committee in partnership with the Area M Command, provided participants with medical screenings, consultations, counselling and other healthcare services.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Chairman of the committee, Dr Rukayat Ajibola Bakare, said the initiative had been sustained for more than five years to extend healthcare services to partners and communities associated with the hospital.
The Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Akinyele Akinlade, urged police officers to prioritise regular health checks, noting that policing was a physically and mentally demanding profession.
Akinlade encouraged the officers to take advantage of the outreach to know their health status and seek medical attention early rather than waiting until health conditions became severe.
He also advised them to maximise their Health Maintenance Organisation services and make their wellbeing a priority.
The Area M Commander, ACP Tokunbo Abaniwonda, commended the hospital for extending its services to police personnel, saying stronger collaboration between healthcare institutions and the Police would contribute to building a healthier and safer society.
NAN reports that the outreach included blood pressure and blood sugar checks, dietary counselling, general medical consultations, eye screening, oral health assessment, physiotherapy evaluation and pharmaceutical services.
The initiative further strengthened the partnership between Alimosho General Hospital and the Nigeria Police Force in promoting the health and wellbeing of personnel.
