The Adamawa State Government has commenced a one day capacity building workshop for Local Government Coordinators as part of efforts to strengthen the implementation and grassroots rollout of the Adamawa Digital ID Program across the state.
The workshop, held on Monday, August 10, 2026, at Check In Hotels, Yola, brought together Local Government Coordinators from the 21 Local Government Areas of the state to enhance their understanding and practical capacity in implementing the Digital ID Program within their respective localities.
The training is designed to equip the coordinators with the knowledge and skills required to support citizen registration, identity verification, data validation and the generation of Digital IDs, while ensuring that the program is effectively implemented at the grassroots.
The first session of the workshop, which focused on the theoretical aspect of the program, was facilitated by Usman Aliyu, who took participants through the fundamental concepts, objectives and operational processes of the Adamawa Digital ID Program.

The session provided participants with an understanding of the Digital ID platform, its various modules and the importance of establishing a trusted and inclusive digital identity system capable of supporting access to government services.
The theoretical session also exposed participants to key issues surrounding citizen registration, identity verification, data quality, data protection, security and the responsibilities of Local Government Coordinators in ensuring the success of the program.
The practical session was subsequently facilitated by Usman Ahmed, who guided participants through the practical application of the knowledge acquired during the first session.
The practical training provided participants with hands on experience on the Digital ID registration and verification processes, enabling them to better understand how to operate the platform and assist citizens during registration and other stages of the digital identification process.
The workshop also emphasised the importance of accurate data capture, proper validation and adherence to security and privacy requirements, as the program seeks to establish a reliable digital identity database for residents of Adamawa State.
The Local Government Coordinators are expected to play a critical role in taking the program to the grassroots by supporting registration exercises, assisting citizens, identifying and reporting challenges, ensuring data quality and serving as frontline representatives of the Digital ID Program in their respective Local Government Areas.

The Adamawa Digital ID Program is anchored on the vision of “One ID, Many Services, One Adamawa,” with the broader objective of developing a secure, trusted and inclusive digital identity ecosystem that can improve access to government services and strengthen digital governance across the state.
The successful organisation of the capacity building workshop reflects the commitment of the State Government to ensuring that the Digital ID Program is not only technologically sound but also supported by adequately trained personnel who can effectively deliver the program at the local government level.
Particular commendation goes to the State Coordinator of the Adamawa Digital ID Program, Dr. Hammajam Ahmed Adamu, for his leadership, commitment and efforts towards advancing the implementation of the program and ensuring that Local Government Coordinators are adequately prepared for their roles.
The initiative also underscores the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, whose administration continues to promote digital transformation, institutional strengthening and innovative approaches to improving public service delivery in Adamawa State.
With the capacity building of coordinators across all 21 Local Government Areas, the Adamawa Digital ID Program is positioned to achieve wider grassroots participation and bring the benefits of digital identity closer to citizens across the state.
The workshop therefore represents another important step towards achieving a more connected, efficient and digitally enabled Adamawa State, where a trusted digital identity can serve as a gateway to multiple government and public services.
