Prophet Itunu Onadeko, fiancé of late Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba, has claimed that the actress died at a police station in Ikorodu, Lagos State, contradicting widespread speculation that she died from complications linked to her previous battle with breast cancer.

Onadeko made the claim during an interview with the Celestial Reality Check, the media investigative unit of the Celestial Church of Christ, on Saturday.

He said he was informed of Osoba’s death by an unidentified caller who contacted him around midnight.

“It was a random person that called me around 12 am that she died in a police station in Ikorodu,” he said.

Onadeko, who is the Shepherd in Charge of the CCC Onibuore Cathedral in Bogije, Ibeju Lekki area of Lagos State, said he did not know the specific police station where Osoba allegedly died but reported himself at a nearby police station after receiving the information.

According to him, Osoba had gone to visit a woman identified as Mrs Kehinde Osoba, who he said also runs a church, shortly before her death.

He said a hairdresser with whom the actress had been staying accompanied her on the visit and that they remained in communication before he was informed of her death.

Prophet Denies Cancer Caused Death

Osoba had previously spoken publicly about her battle with breast cancer, including undergoing treatment and surgery. In 2024, she announced her return to public life after the experience, describing the period as one that brought healing, growth and empowerment.

However, Onadeko insisted that although the actress had battled cancer and undergone surgery, he did not believe the illness was responsible for her death.

He recalled accompanying her to Evacare Hospital around the time of her planned surgery and said he had supported her through the treatment process.

Denies Access to Surgery Donations

Onadeko also rejected allegations that he controlled money donated to Osoba for her cancer treatment or used the funds to build his church.

He said the money was paid into Osoba’s own account and that he never had access to it.

He also disputed claims that the church was built with money donated for Osoba’s treatment, saying the church had existed for about two decades and was already completed before he met the actress.

Denies Claims of Maltreatment

The prophet further denied allegations that Osoba was prevented from driving her car or was subjected to physical or other forms of maltreatment before her death.

He said the actress drove herself to Iperu shortly before her death, although he said he did not know whom she had gone to visit.

Onadeko also denied claims that Osoba had been punished by having faeces or urine poured on her body over an alleged dispute involving biscuits.

He said there had been no such abuse while they lived together and maintained that they supported each other financially.

Says Actress Struggled With Smoking

Onadeko disclosed that Osoba had struggled with smoking and said he had encouraged her to stop.

He claimed that members of the church were aware of the habit and that he had tried to help her overcome it.

He also denied allegations that the actress had taken poison before her death.

According to him, Osoba left the church about three weeks before she died. He said that after learning of her death, he contacted one of her uncles, identified as Taiwo, but the relative declined to speak with him.

The circumstances surrounding Osoba’s death remain subject to the claims and accounts of those involved. The allegations made by Onadeko have not been independently established, and there has been no official confirmation from the police regarding his claim that the actress died at a police station in Ikorodu.
