President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has attributed the strong profit performance recorded by companies listed on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) during the first half of 2026 to his administration’s ongoing economic reforms, describing the results as evidence of improving investor confidence and macroeconomic stability.

The President said the reforms, which include fiscal and monetary policy adjustments, are beginning to produce positive outcomes for businesses and the wider economy. He noted that improved corporate earnings reflect the resilience of the private sector and the effectiveness of measures introduced to stimulate economic growth.

According to Tinubu, the surge in profits reported by several listed companies demonstrates that the business environment is gradually becoming more conducive to investment, expansion and job creation. He added that the administration remains committed to implementing policies that promote productivity, strengthen the financial system and attract both domestic and foreign investment.

Market analysts have acknowledged the improved earnings posted by many companies on the Nigerian Exchange during the period, attributing the performance to a combination of stronger revenues, operational efficiencies and adjustments to prevailing economic conditions. They, however, noted that some sectors continue to face challenges arising from inflation, exchange rate volatility and high operating costs.

The President reaffirmed his government’s commitment to sustaining reforms aimed at improving competitiveness, expanding infrastructure and creating a stable economic environment capable of supporting long term growth.

He also encouraged investors to remain confident in Nigeria’s economic prospects, expressing optimism that continued policy consistency would strengthen the capital market and support increased private sector participation in national development.

The remarks come as investors continue to monitor corporate earnings and broader economic indicators for signs of sustained recovery and improved market performance.
