Nigerian music star Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has alleged that his elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye, threatened him during a disagreement over a property jointly owned by the former P-Square group in the United States.
The singer made the claims in the fifth episode of his ongoing video series, where he has been sharing his account of the events that led to the collapse of P-Square and the breakdown of his relationship with his brothers.
According to Mr P, the incident occurred in 2015 after the brothers agreed to divide their jointly owned assets, including a duplex in the United States.
He claimed he was shocked to discover that his share of the property had allegedly been put up for sale without his knowledge or approval.
Speaking about the confrontation, Mr P alleged that he approached Jude Okoye during a music event to seek clarification but was met with hostility.
“He told me to get out of his front before he slapped me. He wanted to beat me up before other artistes stepped in,” Mr P claimed.
The singer said the incident only began to make sense to him years later following discussions with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
“This incident happened early 2015. It started making sense to me after the EFCC told me everything. Why the sudden attack?” he said.
Mr P also disputed longstanding claims that Jude Okoye financed P-Square’s early career. Instead, he maintained that their eldest brother, Henry Okoye, was the family member who supported the music duo during its formative years.
He further alleged that he later discovered documents proposing that his ownership interest in the US property be transferred to Jude Okoye’s wife, Ifeoma Omokeke.
According to the singer, he declined to sign the documents after noticing the alleged ownership change.
Mr P also claimed that Jude asserted he had majority control of the group’s assets and could remove him from the business.
The latest allegations add another chapter to the long-running dispute involving the former P-Square members, whose family and business disagreements have repeatedly played out in public over the years.
As of the time of publication, Jude Okoye has not publicly responded to the latest allegations made by Mr P.
