The Director General of the Adamawa State Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA), Dr Michael Zira, has declared zero tolerance for lateness to work, unveiling a new operational policy aimed at improving discipline, accountability and service delivery within the agency.
Dr Zira announced the policy on Monday during a staff meeting, where he introduced a time logbook to monitor staff punctuality and identify habitual latecomers for appropriate redeployment.
He said the initiative was not intended to victimise employees but to instill a stronger work ethic and ensure staff remain committed to the agency’s mandate.
According to the Director General, PAWECA has a critical responsibility to strengthen poverty alleviation programmes across the state, including intensified Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) visits to Technical Skills Acquisition Centres (TSACs) to assess the quality of ongoing vocational training.
Dr Zira also disclosed that the agency is equipping staff with digital skills by providing equal opportunities for all employees, including newly deployed personnel, to acquire computer literacy, which he described as essential for effective public service.
As part of efforts to empower beneficiaries of the agency’s programmes, he announced plans to provide starter packs to outstanding graduates of the Technical Skills Acquisition Centres, subject to the availability of resources, to enable them establish businesses and become self reliant.
He urged staff to embrace discipline, teamwork and productivity in support of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s vision of reducing poverty, creating wealth and improving livelihoods across Adamawa State.
