The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, has pledged to prioritise community-driven infrastructure development across all 332 wards in the state if elected governor.
The promise was made during the APC governorship campaign tour of communities in Irepodun and Orolu Local Government Areas on Friday. Speaking at the palace of the Olufon of Ifon Orolu, Oba Peter Akinyooye, the National Secretary of the APC, Senator Basiru Ajibola, said the party’s administration would focus on projects tailored to the specific needs of individual communities.
According to Basiru, the proposed intervention programme would target essential infrastructure capable of improving living standards in rural communities across the state.
He argued that despite the increase in federal allocations to states since President Bola Tinubu assumed office, residents of Osun have not witnessed corresponding improvements in public infrastructure.
Basiru noted that monthly allocations from the Federation Account had risen significantly in recent years, citing figures of ₦586 billion shared nationwide in April 2023, compared to ₦2.2 trillion in April 2026, ₦2.3 trillion in May, and ₦2.7 trillion in June 2026.
He questioned the impact of the increased allocations on community development in Osun, insisting that infrastructure projects should be based on the actual needs of each locality.
“The first thing a Bola Oyebamiji administration will do is introduce community intervention infrastructure across all wards in Osun State. Development must be driven by needs assessment so that communities receive projects that address their most pressing challenges,” Basiru said.
Addressing party supporters, Oyebamiji assured residents that his administration would pursue balanced development across the state without discrimination.
He said his government would invest across critical sectors, including road infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture and the growth of small businesses, while creating a more conducive environment for investment and economic activities.
“We will ensure inclusive development and improve the business environment for all residents of Osun State, irrespective of political affiliation,” Oyebamiji said.
Osun State voters are scheduled to elect a new governor on August 15, with the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke, seeking another term in office. According to the campaign information presented, Adeleke is contesting alongside candidates from 13 other political parties, including the APC.
