An Iranian attack struck a building belonging to a Chinese company in northern Kuwait, killing one worker and causing extensive damage to the facility, according to the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense.
The ministry’s official spokesperson, Saud Al-Atwan, said in a statement on Thursday that the competent authorities immediately responded to the incident and initiated the necessary emergency procedures in coordination with relevant government agencies.
Al-Atwan said the Kuwaiti Armed Forces continue to operate at a high level of readiness and are taking all necessary measures, alongside other authorities, to safeguard the country’s sovereignty, security and stability, while ensuring the safety of citizens and residents.
Officials did not immediately release the identity or nationality of the worker who was killed, nor did they identify the Chinese company whose building was hit.
The ministry also did not provide further details about the nature of the attack or whether additional casualties were reported.
The incident comes amid heightened tensions across the Middle East as the conflict involving Iran, the United States and regional allies continues to expand, raising concerns about the security of neighbouring Gulf states.
Authorities said investigations into the attack and the extent of the damage are ongoing.
