Renowned economist and public affairs commentator, Professor Pat Utomi, has raised concerns over the impact of poor leadership and weak institutions on Nigeria’s economic progress, warning that the country’s development potential remains constrained by governance challenges.

Utomi said sustainable growth requires strong institutions, accountable leadership, and policies that prioritize long-term national development. He argued that without effective systems capable of driving transparency, innovation, and productivity, Nigeria may continue to struggle to fully harness its vast human and economic resources.

The economist emphasized the need for institutional reforms and visionary leadership to create an environment that supports investment, improves citizens’ welfare, and positions Nigeria for greater global competitiveness.
