The Benue State Police Command has arrested 12 suspected cult members during a security operation aimed at curbing criminal activities and restoring peace in communities across the state.
The suspects were apprehended following intelligence reports linking them to alleged cult related activities, including violence and other criminal acts. Police authorities said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks and improve public safety.
According to the command, the suspects are currently undergoing investigation, while further inquiries are being conducted to determine their involvement in reported crimes.
The police also said items recovered during the operation would be subjected to forensic examination as part of efforts to build evidence against those found culpable.
The Benue Police Command reiterated its commitment to tackling cultism, armed crime, and other security threats in the state, urging residents to continue providing useful information that could assist security agencies in preventing crime.
Authorities warned that individuals involved in cult activities and other forms of criminality would face the full weight of the law.
