Investigators examining the Air India crash that claimed hundreds of lives have entered the final stage of their inquiry following the completion of analysis of the aircraft’s cockpit voice recorder.
Officials said investigators have finished reviewing conversations between the flight crew and are now correlating the findings with data recovered from the flight data recorder, aircraft maintenance records and evidence collected from the crash site.
The investigation is focused on determining the sequence of events leading up to the accident, including the aircraft’s systems, pilot actions, weather conditions and any mechanical issues that may have contributed to the crash.
Authorities said no conclusions have been reached and cautioned against speculation until the investigation is completed. Aviation experts involved in the inquiry are expected to compile the evidence into a final report that will identify the probable cause of the accident and recommend measures to improve aviation safety.
The crash prompted one of the largest aviation investigations in India’s history, drawing support from international aviation experts and aircraft manufacturers. Investigators have been working to ensure every aspect of the incident is thoroughly examined before the final report is released.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation said any safety recommendations identified during the investigation will be implemented to strengthen operational standards and help prevent similar accidents in the future.
