As reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Federal Government has launched three digital platforms designed to strengthen public service reforms, improve accountability and enhance service delivery across Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
The newly introduced platforms include the Reform Tracker Dashboard, Knowledge Repository and the National Strategy for Public Service Reform Dashboard, which together provide an integrated digital system for monitoring, documenting and communicating reform initiatives across the public service.
Launching the platforms in Abuja, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, said the initiative represents a major step towards building a transparent, accountable and technology driven public service.
Represented by his Senior Technical Adviser, Professor Bernard Bolaji, Akume explained that the Reform Tracker Dashboard would provide a credible mechanism for monitoring reform milestones, implementation timelines and key performance indicators across Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
He said the Knowledge Repository would serve as the Federal Government’s central digital library for reform policies, strategies, reports, guidelines and other knowledge resources.
According to him, the repository will preserve institutional memory, reduce duplication of efforts and promote evidence based policymaking and continuous learning across the public service.
Akume further stated that the National Strategy for Public Service Reform Dashboard would provide real time monitoring of the implementation of the government’s reform agenda, enabling authorities to identify implementation gaps, track progress and make informed policy decisions.
He noted that the digital platforms reflect the Federal Government’s commitment to promoting transparency, accountability, innovation and results driven governance in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation disclosed that a service wide circular would soon be issued directing all Ministries, Departments and Agencies to work with the Bureau of Public Service Reforms on the deployment and effective use of the digital platforms.
He urged all government institutions to embrace the new tools to improve monitoring and evaluation of reform programmes while strengthening service delivery to Nigerians.
Akume also revealed that the Bureau of Public Service Reforms had been directed to conduct periodic impact assessments to evaluate compliance by Ministries, Departments and Agencies with the forthcoming service wide directive.
Earlier, the Director General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Dr Dasuki Arabi, described the platforms as strategic tools that would strengthen governance through innovation and digital transformation.
He explained that the platforms were developed to address longstanding challenges associated with fragmented implementation of reforms, weak coordination, inconsistent reporting and poor preservation of institutional knowledge.
According to Arabi, the Reform Tracker Dashboard replaces periodic paper based reporting with continuous digital monitoring, enabling real time tracking of reform initiatives across government institutions.
He added that the Knowledge Repository would provide policymakers, researchers and development partners with easy access to reform related documents while safeguarding institutional knowledge for future use.
Arabi further explained that the National Strategy for Public Service Reform Dashboard would provide executive level analytics to help decision makers monitor implementation progress, identify performance gaps and take timely corrective actions.
He said the three platforms would collectively improve transparency, strengthen accountability, enhance collaboration among government agencies, eliminate duplication of reform initiatives and support evidence based decision making.
The Bureau’s Director General appealed to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation to issue a service wide circular directing all Ministries, Departments and Agencies to register and regularly update their reform initiatives on the Reform Tracker Dashboard.
He also recommended the establishment of Executive Reform Tracker Dashboards in the Offices of the President and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation to provide real time oversight of reform implementation and enable prompt, evidence based executive decision making.
Arabi reaffirmed the Bureau’s commitment to supporting the Federal Government’s efforts to build a modern, innovative and performance driven public service.
