The Bauchi State Government has continued the payment of outstanding gratuities to civil servants who retired in 2015 as part of efforts to clear the backlog of retirement benefits owed to former state and local government employees.
The Chairman of the Bauchi State Gratuity Payment Committee, Kola Oyediren, disclosed this while briefing journalists at Government House, Bauchi.
Oyediren said the exercise followed the disbursement of ₦5.2 billion to retirees from the 2012, 2013 and 2014 batches.
Reports indicate that ₦3.1 billion was paid to local government retirees, while ₦2.1 billion went to former state government workers.
The committee announced that payments for the 2015 batch would commence on Monday, October 26, 2026, and urged eligible retirees to contact pension desk officers in their respective local government areas for information about the process.
The committee also encouraged retirees from previous batches who missed earlier verification and payment exercises to complete the necessary procedures to access their entitlements.
Officials acknowledged that difficulties locating some retirees’ files had posed challenges to the exercise. Relevant agencies were working to trace the missing documents to enable affected beneficiaries to receive their payments.
The ongoing disbursement forms part of the Bauchi State Government’s commitment to addressing outstanding gratuities.
Clearing the backlog could help ease financial difficulties for retired workers who depend on their benefits to meet daily expenses and other financial obligations.
