The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Sokoto State, Manir Dan’iya, has challenged Governor Ahmed Aliyu to disclose the total revenue received and expenditure incurred by his administration between May 2023 and September 2026.

Dan’iya said the disclosure would enable residents to assess the government’s performance ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting that public officials should account for public funds before asking opposition parties to present their achievements.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Aminu Abdullahi, the ADC candidate was responding to the governor’s declaration that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would campaign for re-election based on projects executed by his administration.

Dan’iya called on the state government to publish details of its Federation Account allocations, internally generated revenue, other income sources, deductions and expenditure during the period under review.

He also demanded a breakdown of financial allocations to Sokoto’s 23 local government areas, including their revenue receipts and spending on public services.

According to him, the records should include project costs, contractors, implementation timelines and evidence of completion to allow independent verification of government claims.

The ADC candidate further raised concerns about insecurity, education, healthcare, water supply, unemployment, workers’ welfare and infrastructure, questioning whether public spending had translated into measurable improvements in residents’ lives.

He called for independent scrutiny of projects whose costs or implementation had been questioned, stressing that allegations of irregularities should be examined through documentary evidence and appropriate accountability institutions.

Dan’iya maintained that the 2027 election campaign should prioritise transparency, verifiable records and measurable development outcomes.

He urged the state government and local councils to make their financial records accessible to residents, journalists, auditors and relevant oversight institutions.
