An All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Lagos State House of Assembly, Gbenga Abiola, popularly known as Agbelebu, has proposed installing information and feedback boxes in traditional rulers’ palaces in Agege to strengthen grassroots engagement.
Abiola, who is seeking to represent Agege Constituency I in the 2027 elections, said the initiative would provide residents with an accessible channel to communicate their concerns, suggestions and community needs.
According to the candidate, the boxes would be placed in the palaces of Baales, who often serve as important links between residents and public authorities.
He explained that the initiative would enable residents, particularly those without direct access to government offices or political representatives, to submit complaints and requests for attention.
Abiola said information collected through the boxes would help identify recurring challenges across communities and enable him to understand residents’ priorities better.
He also emphasised the importance of traditional institutions in community development, describing them as valuable partners in promoting public participation and strengthening relationships between residents and their elected representatives.
However, details about how frequently the boxes would be reviewed, how complaints would be tracked and how residents would receive feedback remain unspecified.
The proposal forms part of Abiola’s broader AGBELEBU Agenda, which he says focuses on accessible representation, public service and community development.
He maintained that representation should extend beyond election campaigns and provide residents with continuous opportunities to communicate their concerns.
