The head of London’s Metropolitan Police Special Constabulary, James Deller, has been dismissed after an investigation uncovered his use of a work phone to copy intimate images of a woman.
The Metropolitan Police said Deller used his police-issued device on two occasions in July and August 2025 to photograph intimate images originally sent to his personal phone through WhatsApp’s “View Once” feature. He then transferred the copies back to his personal device and deleted them from the work phone.
The misconduct was uncovered during Project Galatasaray, an operation targeting corruption and professional misconduct within the force. Investigators used lawful business monitoring and Palantir’s Foundry system to identify the images and other evidence. Deller was dismissed following a misconduct hearing on October 9, 2026, and will be added to the College of Policing’s barred list.
The case highlights Palantir’s growing role in public-sector technology and the use of advanced data-analysis tools in police investigations. The US-based company also holds contracts with other UK public bodies, including the NHS and the Ministry of Defence.
