Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of 25 people in the Nigerian Air Force ATR-42 aircraft crash in Ondo State.

The aircraft, identified as NAF 931, crashed in the Igbokoda area of Ilaje Local Government Area on October 5 while conducting a routine mission from Benin to Lagos. The Nigerian Air Force confirmed that all 25 people on board, comprising five crew members and 20 passengers, died in the accident.

In a condolence message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ekerete Udoh, Governor Eno sympathised with the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, as well as the families and colleagues of the victims.

The governor particularly mourned Ukeme David, an indigene of Akwa Ibom State, who was among those who lost their lives in the crash.

Eno described the incident as a tragic national loss and said the people and government of Akwa Ibom stood with the bereaved families during the period of mourning. He also prayed for strength and comfort for the families of all the victims.
