Troops of the Joint Task Force, North East, Operation Hadin Kai, have arrested suspected drug peddlers during an operation in Buni Yadi, Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.

The arrests were made as part of sustained security operations aimed at disrupting criminal activities and terrorist networks across the state.

During a routine patrol on September 19, troops of the 27th Task Force Brigade reportedly apprehended the suspects and recovered substances suspected to be illegal drugs, including marijuana. Two mobile phones and N85,900 in cash were also recovered from the suspects.

The military said the suspects and the recovered items were subsequently handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The operation formed part of a wider military campaign conducted between September 15 and 22, during which troops also carried out counter-terrorism operations in Gujba and other parts of the Joint Operations Area.

The military said the operations were intended to disrupt criminal networks, restrict the movement of terrorists and other criminals, and strengthen security across communities in Yobe State.
