Former Ajax and Borussia Dortmund manager Peter Bosz has praised Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare following the Nigerian’s impressive start to life at the Dutch club.
Arokodare joined Ajax from Wolverhampton Wanderers on a season-long loan in the summer, with an option for a permanent transfer after struggling for regular playing time in his debut Premier League campaign.
The 25-year-old has quickly rediscovered his scoring touch in the Netherlands, registering six goals and two assists in nine appearances across all competitions this season.
Bosz, who currently manages Ajax’s Eredivisie rivals PSV Eindhoven, believes the striker has added a different dimension to Ajax’s attack.
“Ajax have strengthened enormously. They have opted for experience. A number of those players are doing very well,” Bosz told De Telegraaf.
The PSV coach then singled out Arokodare’s physical profile as an unusual but valuable addition to Dutch football.
“They have brought in a big striker, something we don’t really know in the Netherlands. That is a quality injection for Ajax,” he said.
Standing at 1.97m, Arokodare gives Ajax an imposing attacking option while also offering strength and an effective outlet when the team plays directly.
His resurgence represents a major turnaround after a difficult season at Wolves, where he was largely used from the bench despite scoring six goals in all competitions.
The Nigerian’s return to form could also benefit the Super Eagles, with his goalscoring and physical qualities providing coach Eric Chelle with another attacking option alongside Victor Osimhen.
With his Ajax adventure already gathering momentum, Arokodare will hope to maintain his form and strengthen his case for a permanent move.
