Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has flagged off the construction of a major road project in Tsafe Local Government Area, aimed at improving agricultural activities, connectivity and security across the area.

The Yandoton Daji–Cediya–Doka–Yan Waren Daji–Hayin Alhaji Bedi–Unguwar Joji–Yan Kuzo–Tsafe Road stretches about 95 kilometres and includes five bridges.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony in Tsafe on Sunday, Governor Lawal said the project would connect farming communities to major roads and make it easier for farmers to transport their produce to markets.

He added that improved road access would also strengthen the mobility and operational capacity of security agencies, allowing them to improve surveillance, intelligence gathering and responses to security threats.

The state Commissioner for Works, Lawal Bungundu, said the road would open up several farmlands and support increased agricultural production and economic activity.

The project is being undertaken by Sky Construction Company and Setraco Construction Company Limited and is expected to be completed within 12 months.

The governor said the project forms part of his administration’s wider infrastructure renewal programme aimed at reconnecting communities, improving economic activities and addressing longstanding infrastructure gaps across Zamfara State.
