The Sokoto State Police Command has arrested a suspected bandit allegedly linked to the theft of livestock in Gidan Madi, Tangaza Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect was arrested at a local market while allegedly in possession of a goat. The animal was later identified by its owner as one of the goats stolen from the community.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmed Rufai, confirmed the arrest, saying the suspect was among those allegedly involved in stealing livestock from Jurelku village in Gidan Madi on September 15.
According to the police, the victim identified both the recovered goat and the suspect as being connected to the incident.
Rufai said the suspect was currently in police custody and was providing information that could assist investigators in tracking other members of the alleged group.
He added that the investigation was ongoing, with efforts underway to apprehend other suspects allegedly involved in the livestock theft.
