The Governing Council of Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola, has appointed Dr. Engr. Suleiman Samaila as the institution’s new Acting Rector.
Samaila replaces Dr. Harrison Edan Mbasumai, who has served as Acting Rector for the past six months. According to the appointment letter dated September 25, 2026, and signed by the Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Cyril Michael Ubale, the appointment takes immediate effect.
The decision followed an emergency meeting of the Polytechnic Governing Council held on Thursday, September 25, at the institution’s Conference Hall.
Mbasumai assumed the acting position on April 2, 2026, following the expiration of the tenure of the previous administration. His six month period in office has now elapsed, leading to the appointment of Samaila to oversee the institution pending the selection of a substantive Rector.
The appointment is understood to be an interim arrangement to ensure continuity in the administration of the Polytechnic while the process for appointing a substantive Rector is concluded.
Before his new appointment, Samaila served as Director of the Entrepreneurship Study Centre of Adamawa State Polytechnic and previously held the position of Dean of the School of Engineering, Science and Technology.
The new Acting Rector is expected to take charge of the day to day administration of the institution with immediate effect.
