Nigeria’s food, beverage and tobacco sector attracted N375.03bn in fresh investments in 2025, making it the largest recipient of manufacturing investment during the year.

The figure represented a 63.5 per cent increase from the N229.42bn recorded in 2024, according to data from the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria.

Major companies that invested in the sector included Flour Mills of Nigeria, BUA Foods, Nestlé Nigeria, Dangote Sugar, Dufil, Cadbury Nigeria, CHI Limited, Unilever Nigeria and Honeywell Flour Mills.

The non metallic products sector ranked second with N280.12bn, largely driven by investments in cement and glass manufacturing. Motor vehicle assembly attracted N170.8bn, while chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturing received N123.61bn.

Overall manufacturing investment reached N1.33tn in 2025.

Lagos and Ogun continued to dominate Nigeria’s manufacturing investment landscape. The two states attracted N1.74tn in industrial investments between 2024 and 2025, representing 87.32 per cent of the total recorded during the period.

Industry observers attributed the concentration to access to major markets, ports, infrastructure, industrial clusters and established business networks.

They also called for improved roads, rail infrastructure, ports and investment incentives to encourage manufacturers to establish more factories across other parts of the country.
