Lagos State representative, Danielle Adewusi, has been crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2026 after defeating 19 other contestants at the grand finale held in Lagos.
Adewusi emerged as the winner at the colourful ceremony, earning the opportunity to represent Nigeria at the 75th Miss Universe Festival scheduled to take place in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on November 24, 2026.
Miss Edo, Anita Osikhena, was named first runner up, while Myya Jones of Cross River emerged as second runner up. Oluwafunmibi Ajaja of Ekiti finished as third runner up, while Melissa Toghan of Delta was named fourth runner up and will represent Nigeria at Miss Supranational.
Adewusi is a medical doctor, model and women’s health advocate. She studied Medicine at King’s College London, where she obtained an MBBS and a first class BSc in Psychology.
She is also the founder of Scrub The Stigma, a women’s health organisation focused on education and advocacy in Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
Her victory also carries a strong family connection, as her mother, Tonia Okogbenin, won the Miss Universe Nigeria title in 1991. Adewusi’s triumph therefore comes 35 years after her mother’s victory.
As the new Miss Universe Nigeria, Adewusi will take her women’s health advocacy campaign to the international stage while representing Nigeria at the global competition later this year.
