Senator Ireti Kingibe has responded to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, declaring that she cannot be silenced in the discharge of her duties as a senator.
Kingibe’s remarks came amid an ongoing disagreement between her and Wike over issues relating to the Federal Capital Territory and her representation of the FCT.
The senator maintained that she would continue to speak on matters affecting her constituents and exercise her constitutional responsibilities.
She stressed that her position as an elected representative gives her the responsibility to raise concerns and demand accountability on issues affecting residents of the territory.
Wike has previously criticised Kingibe over some of her comments concerning the administration of the FCT, leading to a public exchange between both political figures.
The development has continued to attract attention, particularly as both officials have different responsibilities within the governance of the FCT.
Kingibe said she would not be intimidated by criticism and would continue to represent the interests of the people who elected her.
