Construction has commenced on the $12 million Abuja Centre for Entrepreneurship at the SMEDAN Industrial Development Centre in Idu, Abuja, in a partnership involving the Republic of Korea, SMEDAN and the United Nations Development Programme.
The project is being supported by the Republic of Korea through the Korea International Cooperation Agency, KOICA, in partnership with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria, SMEDAN, and UNDP.
The centre is designed to strengthen Nigeria’s micro, small and medium enterprises ecosystem by providing entrepreneurs and growing businesses with workspaces, digital infrastructure, training, incubation and other forms of business support.
According to the project plan, the facility will initially support 500 aspiring entrepreneurs, 400 startups and 1,500 MSMEs, providing them with resources and opportunities to develop sustainable businesses.
The initiative is expected to contribute to entrepreneurship development, innovation and business growth while strengthening support systems for startups and MSMEs in Abuja and beyond.
