No fewer than 5,000 households, comprising mainly women, were reached in Taraba State as part of grassroots mobilisation activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The mobilisation exercise, held on Saturday, September 19, was supported by the Director of Women Mobilisation of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Dr Betta Edu, in collaboration with the Remi Tinubu Support Organisations (RETSO).
Participants expressed support for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket and also backed Governor Agbu Kefas at the state level. They commended the appointment of Edu as Director of Women Mobilisation and presented her with an Award of Excellence.
The Taraba State Executive of RETSO, led by its Women Leader, Hajia Rasheedat Ibrahim, pledged continued cooperation with Edu and other stakeholders involved in the grassroots mobilisation exercise.
The National Coordinator of RETSO, Yusi Buba, coordinated door-to-door and community-to-community engagements during the exercise. The delegation also visited the APC secretariat in Jalingo before proceeding to rural communities to engage directly with residents.
The participants also commended First Lady Oluremi Tinubu for initiatives they said were targeted at women, widows, children and young people, particularly in social protection, empowerment and human capital development.
The organisers said the mobilisation would continue across wards and communities using a “house-to-house, room-to-room and parlour-to-parlour” approach to communicate information about the Tinubu administration’s programmes, policies and reported achievements, particularly to women.
The report’s claim of a broader 40 million women-vote mobilisation target is attributed to the organisers and support groups involved in the campaign, rather than an independently verified voting figure.
