Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued a kidnapped woman and disrupted a planned ransom exchange in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The operation followed credible intelligence about a planned ransom payment for the woman, who was abducted from her farm last month.
The acting spokesperson for the troops, Lt Col. Olaniyi Osoba, said the troops quickly mobilised to intercept the transaction.
According to him, the terrorists attempted to engage the advancing troops after sighting them, but were overwhelmed by the soldiers’ superior firepower and forced to flee.
The terrorists reportedly abandoned the woman as they retreated, allowing the troops to rescue her.
Osoba said the victim was found unharmed and was safely transported to reunite with her family in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area.
The troops subsequently searched the terrorists’ withdrawal route to ensure the area was secure before returning to base.
