The Gombe State Police Command has announced a two-day shooting-range exercise scheduled to take place at the Gombe Military Shooting Range in Liji.

According to the command, the routine exercise will be conducted from Wednesday, August 12, to Thursday, August 13, 2026, between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. each day.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, said the exercise is part of routine activities by police personnel aimed at maintaining operational readiness.

The command urged residents and commuters around the shooting range not to panic when they hear gunshots during the exercise.

Members of the public, particularly those living or travelling around the Liji area, were advised to avoid unnecessary movement near the designated range throughout the exercise.

The police also warned against trespassing into the shooting range, stressing that the restriction is necessary to prevent avoidable incidents and ensure public safety.

Parents and guardians were equally urged to caution their children and wards against approaching the area during the exercise.

The command called for the cooperation of residents and assured the public that necessary security measures would be maintained throughout the exercise.

The shooting exercise is expected to conclude by 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 13.
