OpenAI has asked a U.S. court to dismiss a trade secrets lawsuit filed by Apple, arguing that the tech giant’s allegations are legally insufficient and fail to establish a valid claim.
The motion marks the latest development in a legal dispute centered on the alleged misuse of confidential information related to artificial intelligence technology.
In its filing, OpenAI contends that Apple has not provided enough evidence to show that any trade secrets were improperly acquired, disclosed, or used. The AI company maintains that the lawsuit lacks the factual basis required to proceed and has requested that the court dismiss the case.
Apple alleges that OpenAI misappropriated proprietary information connected to its AI research and development efforts. OpenAI has denied the allegations and insists it has acted lawfully.
The case comes at a time when competition among leading AI companies is intensifying, with firms investing billions of dollars in developing advanced AI models and products.
