The Delta State Police Command has arrested five suspected criminals during separate intelligence led operations that also led to the recovery of firearms and stolen motorcycles in different parts of the state.

According to the police, the arrests were made following coordinated operations by tactical teams acting on credible intelligence. The command said the operations form part of its ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks and enhance public safety across Delta State.

Police authorities disclosed that the recovered exhibits include firearms believed to have been used in criminal activities, as well as motorcycles suspected to have been stolen from their owners. The command added that investigations are underway to determine the source of the recovered weapons and identify other members of the criminal syndicates.

The suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting investigators with information that could lead to further arrests. The command stated that they will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The Commissioner of Police reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating armed robbery, illegal possession of firearms, vehicle theft and other forms of violent crime. He urged residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information that would aid crime prevention and the arrest of criminal elements.

Security experts described the recovery of the firearms and stolen motorcycles as a significant step in disrupting criminal operations within the state. They, however, stressed the need for sustained intelligence gathering, community policing and stronger collaboration between law enforcement agencies and local communities to maintain the gains recorded.

Residents have also been encouraged to remain vigilant, secure their property and promptly report suspicious movements to the nearest security agency as authorities intensify efforts to protect lives and property.

The latest operation reflects the Delta State Police Command’s continued resolve to strengthen security, reduce crime and ensure a safer environment for residents and businesses across the state.
