At least six people were killed and 40 others injured after a Ukrainian drone struck a crowded beach in Russia, according to Russian authorities, in one of the deadliest attacks on civilians reported in recent weeks.
Russian officials said the drone hit a busy public beach, causing multiple casualties, including children. Emergency services rushed to the scene to evacuate the wounded and secure the area.
Regional authorities said several of those injured remain in critical condition as medical teams continue treating victims. The identities of those killed have not yet been fully released.
Russia’s Defence Ministry accused Ukraine of deliberately targeting civilians and vowed to respond to the attack. Ukrainian officials did not immediately comment on the incident or confirm responsibility.
The strike comes as both Russia and Ukraine continue to intensify long range drone attacks, with each side targeting military infrastructure and strategic facilities while accusing the other of endangering civilian lives.
The conflict, now in its fifth year, has increasingly seen drones used in attacks far from the front lines, raising concerns over civilian safety and the widening reach of the war.
