The Cross River State Government has trained 221 facilitators made up of 196 ward development officers (WDO’s) and 25 local government liaison officers as part of efforts to strengthen its social intervention programmes and improve the livelihoods of vulnerable residents across the state.

The training is designed to equip participants with relevant skills and knowledge that can help them become more self-reliant, improve their income-generating capacity and contribute positively to their communities.

The programme is part of broader efforts to provide social and economic support to vulnerable individuals while creating opportunities for beneficiaries to improve their standard of living.

Officials involved in the initiative said the training would help participants develop practical skills and gain the confidence needed to pursue sustainable livelihoods.

The beneficiaries were also encouraged to make effective use of the knowledge acquired during the programme and explore opportunities that could enable them to become economically independent.

The initiative reflects the state government’s commitment to strengthening social protection and empowering vulnerable groups through targeted interventions.

Stakeholders noted that continuous investment in skills development and social intervention programmes remains important in addressing unemployment, reducing poverty and improving the welfare of citizens.

The training of the 221 beneficiaries is therefore expected to contribute to the state’s broader efforts to promote inclusive development and ensure that more residents have access to opportunities that can improve their livelihoods.
