President Bola Tinubu has described the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, as the best minister to have overseen the administration of the FCT since its creation 50 years ago.
According to a report by Vanguard, the President made the remark during a special thanksgiving banquet held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja to celebrate the inauguration of 31 projects executed across the FCT as part of activities marking the administration’s third anniversary. Tinubu’s message was delivered by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio.
The President commended Wike’s performance, citing the pace of infrastructure delivery and ongoing development projects across the Federal Capital Territory.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, represented by his Special Adviser on General Duties and former FCT Minister, Aliyu Modibo, also praised Wike’s performance. Modibo described the current minister as one of the three best FCT ministers in the territory’s history after reviewing the performance of previous office holders.
He listed former ministers Hamza Abdullahi, Muhammadu Gado Nasko and Nyesom Wike among the top performers but left the audience to rank them. Guests at the event responded by declaring Wike as the best among the three.
Speaking at the banquet, Wike dedicated the recognition to President Tinubu, saying the achievements recorded in the FCT were made possible by the President’s leadership and support.
The minister also acknowledged the contributions of his predecessors, stating that previous FCT ministers had good ideas but were constrained by circumstances beyond their control.
Wike noted that the current administration remains committed to implementing the Abuja Master Plan, expanding infrastructure to satellite towns, improving security and accelerating development across the nation’s capital.
The thanksgiving banquet formed part of activities marking the commissioning of 31 completed projects across the FCT, with the Federal Government reaffirming its commitment to sustained infrastructure development and improved service delivery in Abuja.
