The United States has widened its military campaign against Iran, launching strikes on bridges and an airport in what officials described as an effort to disrupt military logistics and weaken Tehran’s ability to sustain operations, marking a significant escalation in the conflict.
U.S. forces targeted key transport infrastructure, including strategic bridges and an airport believed to be supporting Iranian military movements and logistics. Washington said the strikes were intended to degrade Iran’s operational capabilities while limiting the movement of military equipment and personnel.
The latest attacks follow several days of intensified U.S. operations targeting Iranian missile sites, air defence systems and military installations. American officials said the campaign aims to reduce threats to regional security and safeguard international shipping routes amid rising tensions in the Gulf.
Iran condemned the strikes, describing them as a violation of its sovereignty, and warned that it would continue responding to what it called U.S. aggression. Iranian authorities have previously threatened retaliation against American forces and regional allies, raising concerns that the conflict could spread further across the Middle East.
The escalation has heightened fears of disruption to global energy markets, with commercial shipping companies reassessing operations through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for international oil and liquefied natural gas exports. Analysts warned that continued fighting could have significant economic consequences beyond the region.
International leaders have renewed calls for restraint and diplomacy, cautioning that further military escalation risks drawing additional countries into the conflict and undermining stability across the Middle East.
