ABUJA, Nigeria — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) to intensify its support for Africa’s industrialisation, stressing the need for increased investment in manufacturing, infrastructure, and regional value chains to accelerate the continent’s economic transformation.
Speaking during a high-level engagement, the President highlighted industrialisation as a critical pathway to creating jobs, reducing poverty, and enhancing Africa’s competitiveness in the global economy. He urged Afreximbank to continue expanding access to financing for businesses and strategic development projects that promote sustainable growth across the continent.
Tinubu also underscored the importance of strengthening intra-African trade through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), noting that deeper regional integration and industrial development would position African economies to add value to their natural resources rather than relying on raw commodity exports.
The President reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to working closely with Afreximbank and other development partners to foster innovation, attract investment, and build resilient industries capable of driving long-term economic prosperity across Africa.
His remarks reinforce growing calls for stronger collaboration between African governments and financial institutions to unlock the continent’s vast industrial potential and achieve inclusive, sustainable development.
