The Nigeria Basketball Federation Electoral Committee has reminded candidates contesting for positions on the NBBF board that submission of nomination forms ends today, Thursday, October 8, at 2pm.
Electoral Committee chairman, Dr Lanre Glover, described the deadline as sacrosanct and urged all prospective candidates to comply with the approved election timetable.
Glover warned that the committee would not consider submissions made after the stipulated deadline, stressing that the timeline remains one of the key provisions guiding the electoral process.
He said a detailed schedule for the elections had already been released as stakeholders await the emergence of a new board to oversee basketball administration in Nigeria.
The committee chairman also reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a transparent and orderly process ahead of the NBBF elective congress scheduled for October 15 in Abuja.
The Electoral Committee was approved during the federation’s Extraordinary Congress in Yola, Adamawa State, where 39 of the 44 delegates present endorsed the panel.
The committee comprises Glover, Sr Femi Olugbile, Alhaji Sani Fema, Engr Priscilla Ngozi Iroaganachi, Major General David Lubo and Mallam Farouk Yarima, while Barrister Ichene Kalu serves as secretary.
Under the published timetable, nominations opened on September 30, with the submission deadline set for October 8 at 2pm. The list of qualified candidates will be published on October 10, ahead of the elective congress in Abuja on October 15 at 9am.
The process is expected to usher in a new leadership for Nigerian basketball.
