Elders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ondo State have called on members and leaders of the party to unite and work together to secure the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
The Chairman of the APC Elders Forum, Demola Ijabiyi, made the call during a meeting in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
Ijabiyi said the party could not afford to allow internal disagreements, personal interests or struggles for political control to distract members from the larger goal of delivering victory for President Tinubu.
He urged all factions and support groups within the party to put their differences aside and focus on mobilisation, reconciliation and expanding the President’s support base across the state.
According to him, every genuine Tinubu supporter and political leader capable of mobilising voters should be given a role in the campaign.
Ijabiyi stressed that the President’s campaign should be bigger than disagreements among political leaders and individuals in Ondo State.
He said there would be time for members to pursue their individual political ambitions, but the immediate priority should be securing Tinubu’s victory in 2027.
The elders also urged Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who has been appointed to coordinate Tinubu’s campaign in the state, to use the position to unite all APC stakeholders rather than deepen existing divisions.
They particularly called for reconciliation between the governor, ministers from the state, members of the National Assembly and other influential party leaders.
The elders maintained that the success of the campaign would ultimately be measured by the number of votes delivered to President Tinubu, rather than by which individual or group controls the party structure.
They appealed to APC members to avoid public disagreements and personal attacks, stressing that unity and grassroots mobilisation would be crucial to the party’s success in the 2027 election.
The call comes amid efforts by the Ondo APC leadership to strengthen cooperation among party stakeholders ahead of the general elections.
