Nollywood actor Charles Okocha has strongly denied allegations that he bit singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, during their celebrity boxing rematch in Lagos.
Okocha dismissed the claim while speaking at AY and Akpororo’s comedy night, insisting that he could not have bitten Portable because he wore a mouthguard throughout the contest.
The celebrity boxing rematch, tagged “Unfinished Business,” took place at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Portable had accused Okocha of biting him on the back and locking his neck during the chaotic encounter, but the actor rejected the allegation.
“Portable has been going around telling people I bit him on the back. I was wearing a mouth guard; how is that even possible? He was just lying,” Okocha said.
The actor took the denial further, saying he would rather chew grass than bite his opponent.
“I would rather chew grass than bite him. I do not want to catch rabies. Have you seen how Portable’s skin looks? Hell no, I would not do that. He should just accept defeat,” he added.
Okocha also repeated his position during an appearance on TVC Entertainment, maintaining that the biting allegation was untrue.
The rematch ended in dramatic fashion after the contest descended into a wrestling-style confrontation, with the referee struggling to separate both men. Security personnel eventually intervened as tensions escalated inside the ring.
Portable subsequently walked out of the ring before the fight could be officially concluded, drawing boos from spectators.
He was later brought back into the venue and disqualified, resulting in victory for Okocha.
Following the controversial ending, Portable released a diss track aimed at the officials and the circumstances surrounding the bout.
In the song, the singer criticised the referee, accused Okocha of attempting to choke and bite him, and suggested that he could settle the rivalry through traditional wrestling if the confrontation continued.
The defeat marked another setback for Portable in celebrity boxing.
The singer had previously lost to Carter Efe by unanimous decision on May 1 at the same venue in a bout televised on DAZN.
After that defeat, Portable revealed that he had received ₦50 million for lasting one round and claimed that organisers would have paid him ₦100 million if he had completed two rounds.
With the latest bout ending in disqualification rather than a conventional decision, the rivalry between Okocha and Portable has continued to generate controversy and debate among fans.
