Chelsea have reportedly made an official approach to AS Monaco for midfielder Lamine Camara, submitting a package worth €45 million as they explore a potential deal for the Senegal international.
The bid, however, is understood to be below Monaco’s valuation of the highly rated midfielder, although negotiations between the two clubs are continuing.
Camara has emerged as a player of interest to Chelsea as the London club considers its midfield options amid uncertainty surrounding the future of Enzo Fernández.
Manchester City are reportedly in discussions with Chelsea over Fernández, adding another layer of intrigue to the Blues’ pursuit of Camara.
The 22-year-old Camara is believed to be keen on a move to Stamford Bridge, which could prove significant if Chelsea decide to accelerate negotiations with Monaco.
Camara has established himself as an important player since moving to Monaco, combining defensive work, ball progression and technical ability in midfield. His versatility and energy have made him an attractive option for clubs looking to strengthen their engine room.
Chelsea’s €45m package represents a serious opening move, but Monaco’s stance means further negotiations are likely before any agreement can be reached.
The situation remains one to watch, particularly with Fernández’s future potentially influencing Chelsea’s plans. Should the Argentine midfielder leave, the Blues could intensify their efforts to bring Camara to west London.
For now, talks remain ongoing, with Chelsea attempting to bridge the gap between their offer and Monaco’s valuation.
