At least eight farmers have been killed and five others injured after suspected bandits attacked Ghandi community in Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The incident occurred on Sunday, with residents reportedly caught off guard as the assailants stormed the community and opened fire on farmers.

According to local sources, the attack may have been carried out in retaliation for recent security operations in the area that reportedly resulted in the death of some bandits.

The injured victims were taken to a medical facility for treatment, while the incident has heightened concerns among residents over the safety of farmers returning to their fields.

The latest attack has renewed calls for stronger security measures across rural communities in Sokoto State, particularly during the farming season, when residents depend heavily on access to their farmlands for their livelihoods.

Security agencies are expected to intensify efforts to track down the perpetrators and prevent further attacks in the affected communities.
